Hannah Walker
Hi, my name is Hannah, and I am a birth and postpartum doula based in Kapiti, servicing the greater Wellington region and up to Palmerston North. I am passionate about all things birth, but in particular I am passionate about birth after birth trauma. After experiencing birth trauma myself, I have become a birth doula to both help prevent birth trauma, and to help women who have had traumatic births, have a more empowering birth experience.
I am a trained Biology teacher, and my science background helps me read all the latest research, and ensure all my advice comes from an evidence based standpoint.
I have two beautiful babies, who are currently two and three and a half. I had a beautiful natural birth with my eldest, but a very traumatic placental abruption with my youngest. After this I decided to train to help women have a better experience than I did.
As a birth doula I will support you during your pregnancy in education and planning. During your birth I will be there with you every step of the way, working with your LMC, and your partner and older children if they are present too. I will help by advocating for you, suggest different positions, help direct your partner and be a second pair of hands to help you achieve the birth you want.
As a postpartum doula I will come and help however you need- cleaning, playing with the older children, holding the baby so you can have some sleep, or just making a cup of tea and having a chat!
I am happy to support mums labouring at home, in a primary birthing unit or at hospital. I can travel anywhere between Wellington, Hutt Valley, Kapiti Coast and Palmerston North.
