Antenatal & Postpartum Doula

Kia ora and welcome! I’m Rita, a trained antenatal and postpartum doula based in rural Waikato. With a deep passion for pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care, I’m here to empower and support you and your whānau. I will work with you to enhance your family’s well-being throughout the antenatal period and postpartum journey, helping you gain the tools and confidence needed to thrive in this evolving chapter of your life.

As a mother of two and a former city girl who has transitioned to rural life, I have a unique perspective on the diverse needs that different lifestyles can bring. Let me be the helping hand to support your family through this memorable and special adjustment.

Testimonials

Rita is a kind and empathetic person who has a nurturing and calm demeanour. She was a wonderful support to our family in the first six weeks of having our second child.

Being a mother herself she brings first hand experience as well as plenty of knowledge she has gained through her studies and own research. She offered hands-on and practical support which was second to none. She is extremely confident with babies and could swiftly soothe and settle our baby. She taught me swaddling and soothing techniques which quickly improved my own ability of calming our baby and settling him to sleep. She was hugely supportive and helpful with my feeding journey, of which I was struggling with this time around. She gave tips with latching and feeding positions which could improve things, and helped me establish a pumping routine as I hadn’t pumped before. She took the time to message during the week to check in on how things were going which I really appreciated.

The postpartum days can be tricky with many emotions and hormones racing. Rita was a great support both mentally and emotionally. Through conversation with her I was able to process what I was experiencing and she validated my feelings which was hugely beneficial. She was supportive and reassuring of what I was doing well and she helped me to navigate and problem solve any hurdles I was facing, particularly with adjusting to life as a mother of two and the juggle that comes with that. Having Rita here allowed me to spend quality one on one time with my first born, which we both really needed and valued. Rita was also great with our first born and quickly developed a connection with him. She went above and beyond to organise and bring activities to play with him which always made her arrival exciting for him.

Rita has great initiative and would easily perceive things that needed to be done. She would quietly go about tidying up, folding washing, attending to my toddlers needs etc without being prompted to do so. Small things like this go a long way when you are in the chaos of the newborn days and they definitely didn’t go unnoticed.

I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to have Rita as our doula for the time we did and would highly recommend her to any family looking for hands on support during their postpartum days.
